We ask for your email only if you subscribe to the brief. We run Google Analytics, which sets cookies and counts page views. Your saved tools, chosen angles and theme live in your own browser, not on our servers. We don't sell or rent personal information, and there is no advertising network on this site.
Overview
This page explains what happens to information when you use AI Briefs (https://getaibriefs.com) — what we collect, why, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it. It applies to the whole site, including the brief, the Toolbox, the newsletter and our forms.
AI Briefs is a static website. There is no login, no user account and no profile attached to you.
What we collect
Email address. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you type in, solely to send you the brief and related updates. Subscription is handled by our email provider, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
What you send us in a form. If you contact us or submit a tool, we receive whatever you put in the form — typically your name, your email address and your message — so that we can reply and, in the case of a listing, review the tool.
Payment details for a listing. We never see or store card numbers. Listing payments are taken by Polar, our merchant of record; we receive a confirmation containing the checkout reference and the email you paid with.
Usage data. We collect aggregate analytics about pages visited, approximate location at country level, referring URLs and device type. This is used in aggregate to see which pages are worth keeping, and it is not used to build a profile of you.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, your date of birth, your phone number or your address.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and nothing else you didn't.
- To reply to messages and review tools submitted for listing.
- To understand which briefs, explainers and tool pages people actually read, so we can write more of what works.
- To keep the site up, fast and free of abuse.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We do not run an advertising network, and nothing on this site retargets you elsewhere.
Analytics and cookies
This site runs Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-XP68CXTJCM) on every page.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser and records a page view, the referring page, your
device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Earlier versions of this policy said
the site used no cookies; that was inaccurate, and this section replaces it.
We use the reports in aggregate only — we never attempt to identify an individual reader, and we do not upload email addresses or any other personal identifiers to Google Analytics.
If you would rather not be counted, you can block analytics with a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection, use Google's opt-out add-on, or enable "Do Not Track". Blocking analytics does not break anything on this site.
What your browser stores
A few small things are kept in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers your preferences between visits. They never leave your device, we cannot read them, and clearing your site data removes them:
- your light/dark theme choice;
- the tools you have saved, and any comparison you have started;
- the brief angles you picked, your reading streak and the date of your last visit;
- whether you have already subscribed, so we stop nudging you.
A tool submission is also held briefly in your browser's session storage between the form and the payment step, so that the details survive the trip to the checkout page. It is discarded when you close the tab.
Third parties
Only these services receive data, and only for what they do:
- Beehiiv — delivers the newsletter, and stores your email address for that purpose.
- Formspree — passes contact and submission forms to our inbox.
- Polar — takes listing payments as merchant of record and handles cancellations.
- Google Analytics — aggregate traffic measurement, as described above.
- Vercel — hosts and serves the site, and keeps standard server logs.
Each of these processes data under its own privacy policy. We link out to hundreds of AI tools; once you follow a link, that site's own policy applies and this one no longer does.
Data security
The site is served over HTTPS, and we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security — which is also why we deliberately collect as little as possible.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter email, in one click.
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us. We will action it within 30 days.
- Opt out of analytics using the methods above.
- Clear your site data in your browser to wipe everything stored locally.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes — like the analytics disclosure above — are described in the section they affect rather than quietly edited in.
